Henry Santos
With 23+ years of insurance industry knowledge and expertise, Henry Santos has a broad background in employer group benefits that spans customer service, account management, policy administration and new business development.
Since 2008, Henry has focused his efforts on self-funding and group retiree healthcare programs. Santos has extensive knowledge in Stop Loss, Captive Arrangements (831a – 831b), Risk Retention Groups and Post 65 Medical and Prescription Drug coverage. As an Executive Vice President at Amwins Group Benefits, Santos has assisted public entities, Taft Hartley entities, Fortune 500 companies and small privately held firms in reducing their healthcare spend thru alternative funding mechanisms and Other Post-Employment (OPEB) carveout strategies.
In 2012 and 2015 respectively, Henry developed a national healthcare captive & hospitality risk retention group. Both programs enable midsize employers to participate in a heterogeneous or industry specific Cooperative Purchasing Platform. Santos continues to focus on self-funding via Amwins’ subsidiary, Stealth Partner Group. Henry leads the Stealth-Houston office which primarily serves Southern Texas and Louisiana.
Prior to joining Amwins Group Benefits, Mr. Santos was a Platoon Sergeant (E-5) Non-Commissioned Officer in the United States Marine Corps and was deployed to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. His accolades include: Combat Action Ribbon, Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Presidential Unit Citation-Navy, Letter of Appreciation (4), Certificate of Commendation and Meritorious Mast.
Santos has an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from CCRI, is a licensed Life and Health insurance professional and holds a Certified Self-Funding Specialist (CSFS®) designation.
Henry, his wife Jamellah and their 6-year-old toddler Mikail-Henry, reside north of Houston in Spring TX. He enjoys playing basketball with his son and traveling domestically and abroad with Jamellah.
